Georgia Phelps Can you believe it? I’ve lived in Bristol for my whole 21 years of life and never properly looked around the German Christmas Market. Yes, of course I’ve walked past, had a brief look and bought one or two things but I’ve never properly taken the time to browse or admire the Christmas Market and I thought this year was finally the year that I would take the time to do it.
I wanted to share a few photos and thoughts of it so thought it best to create a post as part of my blogmas series to showcase what the Bristol German Christmas Market has to offer.
Of course, the thing that intrigued me the most was the massive range of food stalls that were dotted throughout the market and I didn’t waste any time with trying them out. Surprisingly, I’ve never actually tried the classic German hotdogs but this year it was a must and one lunchtime with the work girls, we popped along to the market for exactly that. To say I enjoyed it is a massive understatement. Not only was it a German hotdog but it was a BACON flavoured hotdog with MELTED CHEESE inside. Yep, the best invention ever. I never even knew this kind of magic existed but my mind was blown and it’s gone down in history as one of my best lunchtimes ever.
Next up I gave the festive rolls a whirl and with gammon being my favourite food in the whole world, I tucked into a honey roast gammon and apple sauce roll on the 5th December. Hands down the best type of sandwich I’ve ever had and I can’t wait to have another one next week. Yep that’s right, it’s gonna become a regular thing throughout the whole of December!
It’s not just savoury foods that I enjoyed at the Christmas Market because if there’s a fudge shop/stall in sight, I’m there in an instant. Overly sweet, slightly sickly, overpriced but damn good, fudge is my favourite type of sweet snack and I can’t get enough of the stuff. The fudge stand this year has so many flavours available including Jaffa cake, salted caramel (a personal favourite), Malteser and even prosecco along with many more. If you’re a fellow fudge fanatic and in or around Bristol during December, pop by the Christmas market and treat ‘yo self.
I definitely plan on trying more because I’ve already set eyes on the Yorkshire pudding wraps and they look bloody divine so I’ll be straight on those as soon as possible.
