NYK1 Tanforce Self-Tanning Mousse – FIRST IMPRESSIONS – Georgia Phelps Beauty

Let’s be real, Britain really can’t seem to make it’s mind up regarding the weather recently so I’m not counting on bucket loads of glorious sunshine any time soon. Time to fake it ’til we make it, right?

As we all know, I’m a sucker for tanning products so when I was kindly gifted some bronze-me-up products from NYK1 to try, I was super excited and couldn’t wait to try them out.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

First of all, the fact that they sent me a mousse made me so happy because generally, that’s all I tend to use. I’m not entirely sure why but I guess I just have trust issues with any other formula because I’m so used to using tanning mousses now. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve tried most formulas but my experiences haven’t always been plain sailing with them. With mousses however, I’ve never come across one that’s failed me.

They also generously sent me over a full sized tanning mitt and the cutest little mini mitt designed for the face. I can’t say I’ve ever seen a mini tanning mitt designed specifically for the face before but it’s such a genius idea! I always struggle when it comes to tanning my face so most of the time, I don’t bother and will just wear a darker foundation to match my body instead. Now however, it’s super easy as the pocket sized mitt makes it so quick and stress-free to bronze up your face.

The mitts are an absolute dream to use too! They’re velvety soft which helps to create an all over, even tan and the thick padding prevents you from getting orange palms which is  of course, always a bonus.

THE TAN ITSELF

As I mentioned above, the tan is a mousse formula meaning that it comes in a pump bottle which I much prefer to any other style of packaging. A pump enables you to dispense your perfect amount of product and prevents a lot of mess too.

One thing I noticed about this tan that was different to most I use is the fact that it’s completely translucent on application. Personally, this is something that I did panic about a little as I’m so used to being able to see where I’m applying the product. Therefore it’s so important to make sure you really pay attention to where you’re applying the product and fully buff the product into the skin using the mitt to ensure you’ve confidently covered all areas. After all, nobody wants patches or streaks!

The formula dried quickly and didn’t feel sticky or uncomfortable on the skin which meant that I could put on my dressing gown not long after and wasn’t worrying about it transferring onto my bedding that night either which thankfully, it didn’t.

I left the tan on overnight before washing it off the following morning and it developed into a lovely golden bronze shade. It didn’t have the horrific orange tone and was an even colour all over. My face even went a lovely colour too and wasn’t patchy like it can sometimes be in that area.

Finally, the topic that most people are probably thinking – the smell. Thankfully, it was ALMOST not existent! Now it’s very rare for a tan to have absolutely no scent at all (I think I’ve only ever come across 2!) but the NYK1 tan had a very faint smell that didn’t overpower my nostrils or make me smell like a walking digestive biscuit.

Overall, I’m a fan! Although sceptical at first due to the lack of colour when applying, I actually really like the product and the mitts are fab too. If NYK1 ever decide to launch a coloured version of this tan I think I’d love it even more and would definitely be interested in giving it a go.

Thank you for reading and I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s post.
