December Favourites – Skincare & Beauty  – Georgia Phelps Beauty

Happy Sunday readers, I hope you’re all well! With Christmas creeping up at an alarming rate, I thought it would be best to sit down now whilst I have a minute and tell you about my December favourites rather than have to stress about squeezing the post in before the end of the month when I’ll be super busy like everybody else.

It was my 21st birthday this week and my mum and step-dad treated me to a new iPad and also a ring light which means not only will I be blogging a lot more frequently, my selfie game will hopefully crank up a gear with some bad ass lighting! I’m so excited to get my light set up this evening but for now, I’ve just set up my iPad and writing this blog post is the first task I’m completing on here.

I used to write a monthly favourites on my old blog and this will be my first one since moving over to WordPress so I hope you all enjoy reading about what I’ve loved this month and if you’ve tried the same products, tell me what you thought too! I always love to hear about other people’s experiences with products.

Skincare:

I haven’t tried too many new products this month within the category of skincare but I have rekindled my love with a few old favourites that I want to share with you. I’ve also become slightly addicted to quite a few face masks recently too. I do have a separate post all about those for anybody who is interested!

Garnier Moisture Bomb Tissue Mask –

I know I’ve already mentioned this mask a few times on my blog over the past few weeks but honestly, I’m OBSESSED. Obsessed to the point that I’d probably use it every day if it was recommended (honestly I haven’t checked if I can, I’m just guessing it’s not advised!) but for the price, you really can’t go wrong. I feel as if I should have a massive box of them under my dressing table and every time somebody asks me to recommend a decent face mask, just had it over and let it work its magic. If you haven’t already, you have to try it. It’s super hydrating, cooling, helps to reduce puffiness and leaves skin feeling like you’ve smothered your face in liquid silk. What more could you want, right?

Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm –

I can’t believe I’ve only recently discovered this little gem. After such a long time of seeing people rave about it on social media and YouTube, I finally gave it a whirl and I wasn’t disappointed in the slightest. This literally melts any make up (even stubborn and waterproof) from all areas of the face and leaves skin feeling smooth and gentle. My skin doesn’t feel stripped after using it (most cleansers have that effect on me unfortunately), a little bit goes along way and considering Clinique is a premium cosmetics brand, this cleanser is so reasonably priced, especially considering how long it lasts.

GlamGlow GravityMud Firming Treatment –

I feel a little guilty posting about this as it isn’t available to buy in the UK just yet (apart from in their Christmas set!) but it’ll be arriving in the UK next year in April/May time so anybody who can’t get hold of the Christmas set will be able to try it soon anyway. Before trying this product, I’d seen so much about it on Instagram and YouTube and to me, it appeared pretty gimmicky but looked so interesting and fun so I was super excited to try it out. GravityMud appears in its container as a brilliant white colour but transforms into a beautiful chrome shade when applied to the skin and makes you look like the tin man. It smells absolutely stunning and glides onto the skin so easily. You leave the mask on for 20 minutes, during which time it tightens on the skin and then once completely dry, peels off in one go! It’s so satisfying to peel off too and my skin definitely looks firmer instantly.

Beauty:

This is the category that will undoubtedly have the most content as any new beauty product on the market ends up in my hands at some point. I’m so guilty of following trends and jumping on the band wagon from social media posts so you’ve probably heard about quite a few of these products from other blogs and Instagrammers already. None the less, I hope you enjoy reading about what products I’ve enjoyed using in the world of cosmetics this month!

NYX HD Studio Photogenic Concealer –

For months on end I’ve been searching for a decent quality budget concealer with a wand applicator. For a long time I loved the Collection one but in recent months I’ve not enjoyed it as much and found that it’s a little too thick for under eyes. Quite often, I tend to skip the concealer part of my make-up routine (often because I forget to be honest) but also because I don’t have darkness all the way under my eyes, just right in the inner corner. For that reason I don’t really need a full coverage concealer unless I’ve had an awful nights sleep or a terrible diet that particular week. I recently had my face made up by my lovely friend Bella on the NYX counter in Bristol and she used a concealer on me that blew my mind and it was this one! It has a medium level of coverage without any gathering or cakey finish to it which means that it looks just like skin! A little goes a long way too due to the fact that the consistency isn’t ridiculously thick.

Smashbox BB Water –

I was so pleasantly surprised that I fell in love with this foundation as normally, anything with ‘BB’ in the title generally doesn’t tend to work for me. For far too long, a full coverage has been my go-to but after investing a little more time and money into my skincare products, I find that my skin just doesn’t need any more than a medium level of coverage on a daily basis and for that reason, I’ve been rocking a sheer-medium coverage recently and I’ve been loving the natural vibes to my makeup. The best way to explain this product is that it’s the love child of a foundation and BB cream. It has a sheer level of coverage to it and just works best at evening out skin, covering slight redness and giving a lit-from-within radiant glow to your complexion. I wear the shade ‘light’ currently as it has a slight yellow tone to it which personally, I prefer for my skin.

Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil –

I’ve had this lip oil since the summer but until the recent winter months, it hasn’t been used much. I’m now absolutely hooked and can’t get enough. I’m so rubbish when it comes to applying lip balm as I’m more often than not wearing either a matte or liquid lipstick and putting moisture on too completely defeats the object of it being matte. However, this is perfect to apply during your skincare routine in the morning as by the time it comes round to applying your lip products, the oil has sunk perfectly into your lips anyway. I have the shade ’03 Red Berry’ which smells absolutely incredible.

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in the shade ‘Amazing Grace’ –

I was weighing up whether or not to include this in this months favourites post as I’ve already mentioned a lip product but I love it so much I couldn’t not talk about it. This is the only Charlotte Tilbury product that I own but I can’t wait to expand my collection as I was so pleasantly surprised by this lipstick. I was so sceptical at first due to the high price point but I honestly believe these lipsticks are well worth the money. Even though the formula is matte, they’re so creamy and comfortable to wear but they still stay on for a long time. The packaging and scent of the lipstick is absolutely stunning which is always a nice added bonus when you’re paying a little more than you normally would. The only downside to these lipsticks are that you don’t really get very much product in them. I find the size of the lipstick bullet itself is slightly smaller than most which for the price is pretty annoying.

That’s my monthly favourites all wrapped up for December! I hope you’ve all enjoyed the read and please let me know in the comments section what products you’ve been enjoying. I love hearing about other people’s favourites products so that I can go out and buy them to try them too!

I do plan on posting something new before Christmas so keep your eyes peeled for that too. Thank you again for reading!
