It’s getting to that stage now where everybody is starting to attend their work’s Christmas parties which means only one thing. Everybody must have something sparkly going on. Wanna jazz up your outfit? Whack on some sparkly shoes. Make-up feeling a big flat? Put on some glitter eyeshadow and you’re good to go. Nails looking boring? Glitter topcoat it and you’re festive ready.
As Christmas gets even closer by the second, every retailer is shoving glitter in our faces and screaming the word sparkle from the rooftops as loud as they can. Honestly though? I aint mad. I love me a bit of glitter and I love me a bit of Christmas so if you want to hear about my party-ready, glitter inspired must-haves then keep on reading.
NYX Cosmetics Face & Body Glitter
Whether you’re attending a Christmas meal, a party or a night out, a touch of glitter in your make-up is a must have. NYX Cosmetics Face and Body glitters are some of the best i’ve tried. Available in 12 different colours and retailing at only £5.50 per pot, this stuff is perfect. I normally tap a tiny little bit onto the centre of my eyelid (I always apply their glitter primer beforehand to create a base for the glitter) for a touch of sparkle and it takes any make-up look from day to night in an instant.
Glitter Lips
I was lucky enough to be sent some lip kits from the fabulous team at Glitter Lips several months back and although at the time I used them for a zodiac make-up series I was completing on my Instagram, I remember thinking about how amazing they would be at Christmas. Although a little messy to apply (once you have enough practice and you’re patient you’ll be fine) they give an amazing effect and have fab staying power. Retailing at £12.50 and available in 19 shades, these glitter lips kits will have you sparkling with the prosecco.
Urban Decay Heavy Metal Eyeliners
I’ve come across many eyeliners in the past that are labelled as ‘glittery’ and to be honest, they’ve been completely pants. If you’re buying a glitter eyeliner, let’s be real, you want sparkle in an instant. This means not having to spend 15 minutes on one eye trying to make it visible to the human eye. These Urban Decay Heavy Metal liners are the only ones that I’ve come across so far that give high impact glitter, effortlessly. I’m so glad that they recently extended their shade range because now there’s a colour for every mood. Definitely check them out if you haven’t already.
Bobbi Brown Moon Glow Highlighting Powder
This year Bobbi Brown have completely smashed it with their Holiday Collection, Caviar and Rubies. The whole collection had me swooning but this highlighter in particular stole my heart from the get go. I’ve always been a massive fan of Bobbi Brown highlighters (my first high end makeup purchase was their Beige Shimmer Brick) so this limited edition beauty just had to be mine. A high shine, yellow golden glow, this highlighting powder makes you stand out in the biggest of crowds. Soft yet strong, it’s the perfect highlighter for Christmas.
Smashbox Cosmetics Photo Finish Radiance Primer
Although again this isn’t a ‘glittery’ product, it definitely deserves to make the cut for this list. Want that lit from within, warm golden glow? Smashbox have got you covered with their Photo Finish Radiance Primer. Containing amber and bronze pearls, this primer makes your skin glow to the Gods in an instant. Some days I wear just this and a touch of concealer and surprisingly, receive more compliments on my skin than on the days when I’m wearing a full coverage foundation. Sometimes a glow is all you need.
That sums it up for my glittery make-up picks for the festive season. I hope you’ve enjoyed the post and thank you so much for reading and sticking around until the end!
