The time has finally rolled around when I’m prepping to jet off to Amsterdam with my better half and I couldn’t be more excited. As somebody who hasn’t been on many holidays, this little city break has got me absolutely buzzing. We’re going for 4 nights, 5 days and I’m making sure I only take the absolute essentials needed as we don’t have tonnes of luggage space so I don’t want to over-do it.
As I said, I’ve not been on too many holidays (I went on a few as a kid and then after 16 years of nothing, went to Magaluf last year but thats it) so I thought it would make a nice change and mix up of content if I shared my travel essentials here on my blog. Myself and Josh are hoping to go on a few more holidays too so if my travel bag changes, I’ll be sure to let you guys know on here and share any new products I decide to take around the world with me.
Mini versions of your favourite products are absolutely perfect for if you’re going away somewhere. I stash all of mine in one big drawer on my dressing table so that I can easily find anything I’m looking for when I need it in a travel size. Some products that I’m taking away with me are full-sized because the mini versions wouldn’t last me the amount of time I’m away for. I’m planning on making most of it travel sizes to save on space and weight within my suitcase but anything that needs to be full-sized, I’ll be making an exception for.
Skincare
I’m a sucker for skincare so most of the travel sized products I have within my collection fit into this category. I won’t be compromising on quality just because I’m away so I’ll be taking my favourite skincare products that I use at home, just in their slightly smaller form.
Most of the skincare that I’m taking with me is from Dermalogica and comes in the form of sachet samples. I’ll be taking a few Special Cleansing Gels, some Active Moist creams, Sound Sleep Cocoon for a few nights and also an eye cream too. Along with these Dermalogica goodies I’ll also be taking a Body Shop Glow Moisturiser, an Estee Lauder Adavanced Night Repair Serum, a Loreal Hydra Genius, bareMinerals cleansers and a bareMinerals eye cream too. These should all last me the 4 nights I’m away. For eye makeup I’ll also be taking a mini (75ml) Clarins remover.
Foundation & Concealer
Foundation wise I’m taking 3 different brands. Firstly, the Lancome 24hr foundation for when I want a full coverage, the Loreal True Match foundation for those medium coverage days and for the times when I want something slightly more lightweight, I’ll have the Chanel VitaLumiere. All of these are in sample sizes so perfect for fitting into my little clear makeup bag.
For my concealer I’m taking the Urban Decay Naked Skin as it’s great for brightening the under eye and gives a flawless finish. I’ve also packed the Benefit Cosmetics Boi-ing concealer in shade 1 for carving out and tidying up my brows.
Eyes & Brows
I’ve decided to stick with just one eyeshadow palette whilst I’m away and thought it best to pack the one that I’m focussing on using up currently. This is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette and it’s a strong favourite of mine. Easily the most used palette within my collection, this palette is perfect for both day and night so I’m confident that it’ll serve me well whilst I’m away. As a base for my eyeshadow I’m taking 2 Urban Decay Eye Primer Potion samples which I’ve never used before but have heard great things so fingers crossed they perform well.
I’ve packed two mini mascaras for my journey and will be using one for the daytime and one for the evening. Lash Domination from bareMinerals is perfect for daytime wear as it applies easily, stays well and looks fairly natural on the lashes too. Chanel Le Volume will be my evening mascara of choice as it’s one of my absolute favourite mascaras on the market and provides tonnes of volume, definition and drama. To compliment my eye looks I’m taking a Laura Geller waterproof black pencil liner and a Smashbox Gel pencil liner in Bouncer (a bright, electric blue) for that added pop of colour.
I’ll never use anything except Benefit Cosmetics on my brows and won’t compromise them whilst I’m away. I’ve packed my two favourite Benefit products – Precisely, my brow pencil in shade 4.5 and the 24hr Waterproof Brow Setting Gel. I can’t live without either of these so they were a must-have for my travels.
Bronzer, Blush & Highlighter
A pop of colour in the cheeks is essential for any make-up look so I’m taking my favourite every-day products with me. These are all full sized as I don’t own mini versions of any of these but they still fit nicely into my luggage.
The bareMinerals pressed warmth bronzer (which has now sadly been discontinued) has been the bronzer that I’ve been using all year and focussing on finishing. I’m almost at the finish line with this product so I’m taking it away with me and will probably use it up whilst I’m over in Amsterdam.
For blush I’ve packed the Clinique Peach Pop blusher as I absolutely love the shade and the finish it has on my skin. I’ve never been massively won over by Clinique but their blushers are to die for and this is one that again, I’m attempting to hit pan on. I do however have a long way to go so I need to be using it as much as I possibly can in order to do so.
The highlighter that I’m taking with me is hands down, my favourite highlighter that I’ve ever owned. MAC Oh, Darling! causes me to get compliments on my glow every single time I wear it and I can’t put it down at the moment. It gives the most beautiful golden glow that can be seen from space and although I’ve now hit pan on this product, it’s lasted me absolutely ages. I can’t not take this beauty on holiday with me.
Lipsticks & Liners
I’ve never been one to pack lightly when it comes to lip products because let’s be honest, I have a hell of a lot of them. I never know what kind of lip look I’m going to go for until I’ve finished the rest of my makeup so I’ve decided to take a variety of different shades and tones with me. I’m taking 4 Smashbox liquid lipsticks as they’re my favourite formula. I’ve packed the shades Miss Conduct (a deep red), Stepping Out (an everyday nude), Babe Alert (a soft pink) and Bawse (a bright, bold red.) I’ve also packed the Jeffree Star liquid lipstick in the shade ‘Blue Velvet’ (a bright blue), Kat Von D Lolita Lipstick (a pink/mauve) and 2 MAC lipliners in the shades Brick (a classic red) and Soar (a pink/nude.) These should hopefully give me a nice mix of shades for different looks I can create.
Any Other Bits & Bobs
I’m also taking 3 perfume samples with me (Victor and Rolf Flowerbomb, Prada Candy and Gucci Bamboo), 2 sets of false eyelashes and some Duo eyelash glue. The lashes won’t be for daytime wear but if we go out for drinks in the evening, it’ll be nice to glam up a little.
So, that’s my travel bag for you all! I’ve left it right until the last minute before finishing and publishing this post incase I wanted to pack anything else in but everything in this post is my final choice.
Thank you so much for reading and I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s post.
I’ll see you all when I’m back from Amsterdam!
Love & Lipstick,
