Merry Christmas to all of you! I’m not expecting this post to gain a lot of views as people are busy little bees on Christmas Day and have much better things to do that be reading about what I’m up to. However, for those of you that are now led in bed reading this after eating far too much leftover food this evening – this post is for you. I know full well that after a good buffet, I’m suddenly tackling a food coma and I like to lie in bed for a little while. What better way to spend that time than reading a few blog posts? If this is you, then a massive thank you and I hope you’ve had as wonderful a Christmas as I have!
6:30 – Morning Wake Up & Presents!
On Christmas morning, my love for sleep goes out the window and I’m wide awake bright and early, ready to open presents. This year it was 6:30 when myself, my sisters and my parents rose and although I didn’t get asleep until gone 2am (I can never bloody sleep on Christmas Eve!) I didn’t even feel tired.
As tradition, my mum had hung my stocking full of sweeties and a classic Terry’s Chocolate Orange on my bedroom door handle so I grabbed it on my way out of the door and set off downstairs to turn into a little kid as I do every Christmas morning.
My mum always has our presents organised into piles for each of my sisters and I and whilst we pick a spot on each of the sofas, she sets up camp on the floor, right next to the Christmas tree and hands a present to each of us to open at the same time. Her and my step-dad also do a present exchange each time as normally, we all have about the same number of presents.
Our puppy Arnie and my sister’s puppy Luna spent the whole morning curled up on my lap in their matching Christmas jumpers and were so unbelievably well behaved considering they’re normally running wild around the house.
We had a little break every now and then for a top up on orange juice or to grab a few more Quality Streets to snack on but by about 9AM, we’d finished opening everything and were all on mission clean up before the dogs ate all of the wrapping paper.
I won’t share all of my gifts in this post as otherwise we’ll be here all day so I’ll only share two of them with you. However, if you’d like to know what other gifts I opened this morning then please let me know in the comments section and I’ll create a separate post specifically for that.
My favourite present of them all was of course, my main gift. This was the lipstick vault from Laura Mercier and I’m completely in love (blog post to follow in 2018!) I had absolutely no idea what my main gift was going to be this year and was so over the moon when I opened it up. I attended a Laura Mercier event several months ago and fell head over heels in love with this lipstick vault. However, it was right before payday and I couldn’t justify the high price point at that time of month. I went home after the event and told my mum all about how amazing this lipstick vault was and how sad I was that I couldn’t have it. My mum being the sneaky but incredible lady she is, took a trip to Harvey Nichols the following day and picked it up for me as my main gift.
The funny part? She fell in love with it so much too that she very nearly kept it for herself and for this reason, my step-dad went to Harvey Nichols the following day and bought her the last one that they had as a surprise present for her. She was also over the moon when she opened hers.
The other present that stood out massively to me was the first one that I opened. If you know me well, you’ll know that I have a little bit of a soft spot for donkeys. They always look super sad and I find it bloody adorable so to open my first gift on Christmas morning and discover that my parents have adopted a donkey for me made me so happy. Her name is Bonnie, she lives in Devon in the Donkey Sanctuary and next time I’m in Devon I’ll be sure to visit her!
12:30 – Glam Up Or Go Home
Of course I can’t get through Christmas Day without feeling glam AF so I spent about an hour getting myself dolled up using the Morphe 3502 palette (a birthday present from my sister!) and got myself ready for the day. Every year my sister and I take a Christmas Day selfie so I’ll share those below too along with my make-up look for the day.
2:00 – Stuff Your Faces Time
Undoubtedly my favourite part of Christmas – DINNER TIME!
I think the fact that I’m more excited for food at Christmas time than presents speaks a thousand words and it’s a true sign that I’m no longer a kid. I live for the roast potatoes, honey roast gammon and pigs in blankets so my plate is piled high and always cleared.
My mum always decorates the table beautifully too and this year, opted for a purple and silver theme which was stunning.
8:00 Onwards – Poker Party
Another tradition for my family is to get merry whilst playing poker and stuffing our faces with buffet food all evening.
My step-dad owns a whole poker set featuring a full on felt poker table with drink holders included (very handy!) and when the poker table comes out, you know shit’s going down. For once I actually did really bloody well this year! Not sure if this was because I’d had a few too many vodkas and was getting a bit confident and cocky or whether it was just pure luck but nonetheless, it was a great game.
There we have a run down of my Christmas Day and final day of Blogmas is complete! Pretty surprised and proud of myself for completing this challenge and just want to say a MASSIVE thank you to each and every person that has supported me throughout the past 25 days by reading posts, liking them, following my blog and leaving comments! I never expected to receive the amount of support that I’ve had and I’m unbelievably grateful.
I hope you’ve all had a wonderful Christmas, been spoilt rotten and you have a fab Boxing Day too! New posts will be coming very soon but I’ll be taking a well deserved break for a couple of days.
Thank you so much for reading this post and don’t forget to leave a comment below to let me know if you’d like a ‘What I Got For Christmas’ blog post.
Until next time,
