Well, well, well, here we are with what will probably be my favourite post to write within my ‘Summer Favourites’ series. All things glowing and beautiful. Anybody who regularly reads my blog will know that I am what some people may refer to as a ‘highlighter whore’ and I couldn’t agree more. I am well and truly addicted. Everybody does of course have their favourite category within the wonderful world of makeup (some peoples being brows, mascara or quite often even lipstick!) but mine is without a doubt highlighter. Stranded on a desert island? Highlighter. If I had to pick just one product to use for the rest of my life? Highlighter. Product I’m willing to buy the most of? Highlighter. It really is my favourite product on the market and I just can’t get enough.
Due to my out of control obsession, my collection is as you can imagine, also waaaay out of control. Narrowing down to pick my favourites was one hell of a toughie but I’ve done my best and managed to pick out my most loved within the bunch and can’t wait to share them with you guys!
Anastasia Beverly Hills X Nicole Guerriero Glow Kit – £39
There is no way in hell I can pick out my favourite shade within this palette but it deserved a spot within my favourite highlighters so here it is.
Each and every one of the shades within this palette are so beautifully unique in their own individual way and not only are they perfect used alone but they also perform incredibly well when mixed together to create custom shades on different toned skin.
These powders are so unbelievably pigmented and work amazing both dry or mixed with a mixing medium such as MAC Fix+. Not only do they make fab highlighters, but they’re stunning on the eyes too!
MAC Oh! Darling Mineralize Skinfinish – £24.50
For a single highlighter, this one is pretty up there in price so I had high expectations for it right from the start. I managed to get this highlighter when it was part of the limited edition ‘Magic of The Night’ collection a few years back and not only did the packaging have me swooning but the product itself is beautiful.
This highlighter is one of those products that when you wear it you often get asked ‘Ooh what highlighter are you wearing?’ Which let’s be honest, is enough to make anybody’s day that little bit nicer. Make-up is so expensive so to have somebody actively notice it, point it out and ask questions about it makes me feel pretty damn good.
I do personally find that this highlighter works slightly better on my skin when I’m a little bit more tanned because ordinarily, I’m pale as shit. So I can imagine this particular product looking beautiful on medium-deep skin tones and giving those people a glow like no other.
Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops in ‘Celestial’ – £34.00
I’ve talked about this product on my blog before so won’t ramble about it too much but if you’re looking for something that makes you look like the tin man, this is it! This liquid highlighter is literally like liquid metal.
This product can be used in multiple different ways which I love. Anything versatile and multi-use gets extra brownie points from me and I love trying out different ways of using it. This can be used all over the skin before base products, mixed with primer or foundation or tapped/blended over the top of the skin in highlighting areas to give a badass blinding glow.
I’m obsessed with this product. Even the packaging is gorgeous! I can’t wait to get more shades to add to my collection.
Laura Mercier Face Illuminator Powder in ‘Indiscretion’ – £32.00
You know those products that you have in your collection for ages, don’t use much and then randomly out of nowhere, completely fall in love with? This highlighter is exactly that. I purchased it from a fellow beauty blogger on Instagram (@curvettebrigade – check her out, she’s fab!) and it sat in my drawer for a good six months before I began properly using it and now I’m obsessed.
This highlighter is a beautiful medium-dark golden colour and is so flattering when you’re going for a warm, bronzed look.
The design is so pretty that you almost don’t want to use it (probably the main reason that I haven’t reached for it too much yet!) but I’m so glad I bit the bullet and began putting it to the test and using it to it’s full potential.
That sums it up for my favourite Summer highlighters! I hope you’ve enjoyed the read and please leave any comments or questions below.
Thank you for reading and until next time,
