The end of the week means only one thing, a new blog post! So many people have been asking me to post a full review on this tanning product since I’ve been posting about it so much on social media so to those people who asked, here it is! A full product review of the newest member within the Skinny Tan family – the 1 hour Express Mousse!
Anybody who reads my blog regularly or follows my Instagram will know how much I love Skinny Tan products. Ever since they first sent me some products a few months back, I’ve been head over heels in love with everything and the more I try, the more I love. Coming from a girl who hates fake tan, to fall in love with a tanning brand really does say something! If you would like to read more about my opinion on Skinny Tan’s other products, check out my other posts further back on my page.
About the Express Mousse:
At first I was so sceptical of this product. The words ‘1 hour express’ were screaming out to me and putting nothing but fear in my mind but yet again, Skinny Tan pulled it out the bag (like they always bloody do!) and surprised me in the best way possible.
This product does exactly what it says on the bottle – it develops within 1 hour (super express!) and comes in mousse form. With a pump to dispense product, it’s possibly the easiest and quickest tanning mousse I’ve ever used.
The Express Mousse is coconut scented as all Skinny Tan products are and although it leaves a VERY slight tan smell after it’s developed, this lasts less than 24 hours and is then unscented.
In my opinion, the best thing about this tan is that you get to choose your own preferred level of bronze. Leave on for one hour for a light tan, two hours for a medium tan and 3 hours for a dark tan. For the deepest level of tan, leave on overnight and wash off excess product in the morning.
This tan retails at £27.99 and can be purchased in SuperDrug or directly from the Skinny Tan website.
I applied the mousse using the Skinny Tan mitt (honestly the best and softest mitt I’ve ever used!) and worked the product into my skin using circular motions to avoid any streaks or patchiness.
I wanted a tan that was as dark as possible so I left 2 layers on overnight and washed off gently in the shower the following morning. The colour didn’t drastically change after washing it off which tells me that it adhered to my skin really well.
How long did the tan last?
The tan claims to last for 14 days which is pretty much spot on! I found that on roughly the 11th day, the tan started to appear lighter in certain areas and by the end of the full 2 weeks, the tan had completely disappeared. That’s even with some gentle exfoliation throughout those 14 days to keep my skin smooth so it lasted really well.
Top tips when using this tan:
- Definitely use a tanning mitt to avoid streaks or patchy areas! The Skinny Tan one is absolutely fantastic and I couldn’t recommend it enough
- Exfoliate well beforehand to avoid orange elbows and knees! Skinny Tan sell a pre-tan primer which is a lovely gentle scrub with added moisturising properties so it’s fab if you suffer with naturally dry skin!
- If you’re going to leave the tan overnight, I’d advise dark coloured bed sheets to avoid the tan printing onto fresh white ones (sadly I didn’t follow this step!) and also wear dark coloured underwear for the same reason too
- Get somebody to help you do your back as it’s unbelievably hard to reach it all yourself and you don’t want to end up looking like a giraffe
